Vacuum coating is an important aspect of vacuum applications. Vacuum coating is based on vacuum technology and uses physical or chemical methods, incorporating a series of new technologies such as electron beams, molecular beams, ion beams, plasma beams, radio frequency, and magnetron sputtering. It provides film preparation for scientific research and practical production.
What is Vacuum Coating Process Simply put, the method of evaporating or sputtering metal, alloy, or compound in a vacuum, allowing it to solidify and deposit on the object being coated (called the substrate, base, or matrix) is called vacuum coating.

Vacuum coating is based on vacuum technology, using physical or chemical methods, and incorporates a series of new technologies such as electron beams, molecular beams, ion beams, plasma beams, radio frequency, and magnetron sputtering. It provides film preparation for scientific research and practical production.
As we all know, some materials, by simply coating their surface with a thin film, can acquire many new and improved physicochemical properties. In the 1970s, the main methods for coating the surface of objects were electroplating and electroless plating. The former uses electrolysis of an electrolyte by applying an electric current, and the electrolyzed ions are deposited on the substrate surface as another electrode. Therefore, the substrate must be a good electrical conductor, and the film thickness is difficult to control. The latter is a chemical reduction method, which requires the film material to be prepared into a solution and able to participate in a rapid reduction reaction. This coating method not only has poor film bonding strength but also uneven coating and is difficult to control. At the same time, it produces a large amount of waste liquid, causing serious pollution. Therefore, these two coating processes, known as wet coating, have been greatly limited.
Vacuum coating is a new type of coating technology developed in contrast to the above-mentioned wet coating methods, commonly known as dry coating technology.
This is an introduction to Vacuum Coating Process Hope this helps!
