With the development of industrial technology, users have placed higher demands on the production cost and quality of coatings, and the ever-growing user needs make continuous improvement of production processes necessary.
Optical PVD coating machine structure: An optical PVD coating machine consists of a vacuum system, an evaporation system, a cooling system, and an electrical system. The vacuum system consists of a vacuum chamber and an exhaust system. The vacuum chamber is the main body of the coater, and the coating process is completed in the vacuum chamber. The vacuum chamber is connected to the exhaust system via a connecting valve. In order to improve film quality and prevent the influence of air molecules on sputtered ions, the optical components and ion source must be placed in a vacuum environment during operation. The exhaust system mainly consists of a mechanical pump, a Roots pump, and a vacuum pump, which are responsible for exhausting the gas in the vacuum chamber and creating a vacuum environment in the chamber. The evaporation system mainly refers to the film forming device. There are many types of film forming devices for coating machines, such as resistance heating, electron beam evaporation, magnetron sputtering, radio frequency sputtering, and ion plating.
Working principle of optical PVD coating machine: The optical PVD coating machine deposits films on optical components through vacuum sputtering, thereby changing the reflectance and transmittance of the components to incident light. At the same time, in order to improve the imaging quality and reduce the reflection loss on the surface of the components as much as possible, multi-layer films are often coated. After the optical components are coated, light is multiply reflected and transmitted on the surface of the multilayer film, forming multi-beam interference. By controlling the thickness and refractive index of the thin film, different intensity distributions can be obtained. Based on this principle, polarizing reflection films, color separation films, cold light films, and interference filters can be manufactured to meet more complex requirements.
Compared with traditional vacuum coating machines, optical PVD coating machine has the following three characteristics: (1) The surface of the optical film is smooth, and the refractive index between layers can jump on the surface, but the refractive index inside the film layer is stable. (2) The substrate temperature rise is lower during the optical coating process, so the optical coating machine can coat the surface of temperature-sensitive components. (3) For the coating of optical components, the optical coating machine has higher precision, more uniform film layers, and more stable optical properties. At present, optical PVD coating machines have been widely used in the fields of optical communication, optical display, laser processing, aerospace, AR (augmented reality), and VR (virtual reality).
